I have been practicing infant and perinatal craniosacral therapy since 1995. I have developed the work significantly beyond the scope of my own training.
These classes are appropriate for bodyworkers, birth attendants, lactation consultants and other health professionals. Birth attendants have unique opportunities to provide life-changing treatments during and after birth.
Carol Gray is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. These classes have been approved or are eligible for continuing education credit in a variety of health-related professions.
Craniosacral Therapy Foundation Skills

Overview: In this one-day class you will learn where to put your hands and what to do with them when you get there. We’ll learn a little theory and practice some hands-on. This work is instantly beneficial for moms and babies and can easily be integrated with what you already know and do.
By the end of this one-day class you should be able to:
Describe Craniosacral Therapy in a way that people can understand
Use assessment techniques to identify body areas that would benefit from treatment
Use simple release techniques to ease restrictions in the body
List clinical considerations
Know when to refer to a different practitioner

The work I do with infants is efficient, powerful and lasting. I have seen amazing results. There are so many infants who would benefit from this therapy and so few people to treat them. I believe that if infants get early treatment they are more likely to realize their life’s potential and less likely to need ongoing care.
Only a few craniosacral therapy training programs offer any infant treatment instruction. They all require students to complete many levels of expensive training before they can learn to treat infants. I believe that the beginning of life is where the work should begin.
Prerequisites: Students should be licensed, certified or student health professionals (CNM, CPM, DC, DO, IBCLC, LAc, LDEM, LM, LMT, MD, ND, NP, OT, PT, RN, etc.) or otherwise legally entitled to practice touch therapy or with instructor approval. Prior craniosacral therapy experience is helpful, but not necessary. While not required, students are encouraged to receive at least one craniosacral therapy treatment prior to taking this class. The Subtle Palpation Skills Class (described below) is recommended, but not required for students who have little to no experience with subtle bodywork.
Overview: This five-day class includes an infant anatomy review plus lectures, demonstrations and lots of supervised hands-on practice with classmates and babies. In order to maximize learning success class enrollment is limited to eight students.
By the end of this five-day class you should be able to:
Describe the historical and theoretical foundations of the work
Identify physical, energetic and emotional effects of the birth process
Conduct an interview with parents
Demonstrate sensitive palpation skills
Use assessment techniques to identify body areas that would benefit from treatment
Locate and release physical, energetic and emotional restrictions
List clinical considerations
Provide basic treatments for healthy newborns
Know when to refer an infant to a different practitioner
Make a big difference in the lives of the babies you treat
Advanced Craniosacral Therapy for Infants

This class provides an opportunity to deepen your practice, refine your skills and add new, more effective techniques to your repertoire. It turns out I couldn’t teach everything I know in just one class...
Prerequisites: in order to take this class, students must have completed Craniosacral Therapy for Infants with Carol Gray (the class listed above). Students must also have practiced their infant CST skills (either in private practice or at free clinics) since the first workshop.
Overview: This five-day class includes a review of material presented in the first class. We dive deeper into infant anatomy, practice more complex assessment techniques and develop more specific treatment protocols. The class includes lectures, demonstrations, case reviews and lots of supervised hands-on practice with classmates and babies. In order to maximize learning success class enrollment is limited to six students.
By the end of this five-day class you should be able to:
Describe the historical and theoretical foundations of the work
Combine more advanced assessment tools with what you already know
Combine more advanced treatment techniques with what you already know
Determine more precisely where and what to treat
Demonstrate an increase in your knowledge of baby anatomy and physiology
More specifically pinpoint the structures in a baby’s body that would benefit from treatment
Troubleshoot common breastfeeding problems that respond well to CST
Demonstrate release techniques that work in various phases of the CSR
Treat hospitalized and medically involved babies with greater confidence
Start developing the work beyond what I have taught you

Pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery are powerful times for subtle work. Since 1995 I have been adapting my knowledge and experience as a Midwife, Doula and Craniosacral Therapist to provide care for a specific population - women in the childbearing year. The time has come for me to pass on this knowledge so the work can continue to grow.
Prerequisites: Students should be licensed, certified or student health professionals (CNM, CPM, DC, DO, IBCLC, LAc, LDEM, LM, LMT, MD, ND, NP, OT, PT, RN, etc.) or otherwise legally entitled to practice touch therapy or with instructor approval. Practice safe and comfortable positioning of a pregnant woman’s body on a bodywork table
Provide treatments for mothers and their unborn babies during pregnancy and labor
Provide treatments for mothers who are recovering from vaginal or cesarean births
Listen to mothers’ fears and concerns without judgment
Help the mothers-to-be and their babies prepare for the birth together
Know when to refer a mother to a different practitioner
Make a big difference in the lives of the women and babies you treat

Bodyworkers and health professionals are known for having good palpation skills yet we sometimes lose our confidence in the subtler realms. How do we know we are really feeling what we think we feel? How do we get confirmation? How can we learn to trust our hands no matter what?
This is a great class for people who are planning to take an infant or pregnancy/birth/postpartum CST class with me, but want to begin with subtle assessment and treatment.
Prerequisites: Students should be licensed, certified or student health professionals (CNM, CPM, DC, DO, IBCLC, LAc, LDEM, LM, LMT, MD, ND, NP, OT, PT, RN, etc.) or otherwise legally entitled to practice touch therapy or with instructor approval.
Overview: In an atmosphere of acceptance, support and open inquiry we will explore the sensitivity of our own hands. Using practical exercises we will help each other discover and refine our capabilities. We will learn how to assess, treat and restore energetic balance while we confirm for each other the authenticity of our experience. In order to maximize learning success class enrollment is limited to six students.
By the end of this two-day class you should be able to:
Detect tiny things in the physical realm you didn’t realize you could feel
Experience subtle energies more keenly than before

I usually teach in Portland Oregon, but I am happy to come to you. Please contact me if you are interested in coordinating a class in your area. Registration and Refund Policies for All Classes
Space in classes is granted on a first come first served basis. Registration may be made by mail or fax. There are no registration deadlines. Full payment is due at the time of registration. When I receive a registration I send a confirmation letter to the student that includes a reading list and other preparation suggestions plus information about and directions to the class location.
Tuition is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to the start of a class or may be applied toward another class at any time. A $100 cancellation fee applies for student cancellations made inside of 30 days. If I cancel a class I refund all tuition immediately.
I reserve the right to reject a student who, in my opinion, lacks sufficient training and experience to succeed in one of my classes. I may recommend further training or other preparation prior to enrolling in one of my classes. If I reject a student due to lack of training and experience or no space available in the class I refund the entire tuition immediately regardless of when the registration arrives in relation to the start of the class.
