What Is CST?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) has evolved as a specialized branch of osteopathy. Osteopathy, developed in the US by Andrew Taylor Still, is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health including the body’s structural, organ, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. At first osteopaths were not especially concerned with structures in the cranium because they were taught (what is usually taught in English-speaking countries) that cranial bones fuse at some point in our lives and that our heads don’t have moveable joints (like coconuts).
CST for Infants and Children
A newborn CST session can minimize or eliminate the repercussions of difficult births and help ensure good health for well babies. All babies should receive newborn Craniosacral evaluations and treatments as soon as possible after birth. Children should continue to receive pediatric CST periodically throughout childhood as they grow and develop.
CST for Pregnancy and Postpartum
Studies show that people who receive loving touch during their pregnancies are better able to provide loving touch to their newborn infants. Touch is necessary for a newborn’s survival. It also enhances infant-parental bonding. When infants truly bond with their parents they are healthier in all ways. This is the foundation for healthier communities and a saner world.
CST for Everyone
While I am well-known for treating mothers and babies, I love having a general practice where I see all types of people. CST is helpful for people of all ages. I have used it to help people who have a variety of conditions including headaches, TMJ dysfunction, chronic middle ear infections, vertigo, depression, back pain, joint immobility, neck pain, sinus congestion, migraines, learning disabilities, the effects of childhood trauma and negative touch.
